CHILDREN BULLING AND SUICIDE

As I watch the news I hear more and more cases of children killing themselves due to bulling.I remember going to school and of course you have kids that teased others because of their own personal insecurities. These were usually kids who couldn't afford the brand new kicks every month or gear wasn't so tight. If it was girls teasing girls that was usually out of envy. Forwarding into this MILLENNIUM these children have soared to a new type of bulling/CYBER BULLING. Cyber bulling consists of any type of bullying that is carried out by electronic medium. There are 7 types including:
1. Text message bullying
2. Picture/video clip bullying via mobile phone cameras
3. Phone call bullying via mobile phones
4. E-mail bullying
5. Chat-room bullying
6. Bullying through instant messaging (IM)
7. Bullying via websites

Ryan Halligan age 13 years old committed suicide due to cyber bulling. It started when a girl from his class thought it would be a funny joke to pretend to like Ryan. Shortly they were sharing messages via online and Ryan was sharing his personal feeling and thought with her. She later copied and paste all of their private messages and AIM them to everyone she knew. Ryan became the laughing stalk at the school. He could no longer take it and killed himself.
Jamey Rodmeyer 14 years old had just came out the closet and declared his homosexuality. He struggled with the teasing from others just because who he was. Jamey constantly would post comment about suicide but them, posted on you tube a message about finally finding peace and loving himself. He also joined a homosexual website online that helped him deal with the teasing, but the bullies continued to bully him via cyber, his school and neighborhood. He shortly would commit suicide.
As I continue to research and hear more case of bullies and the victims who commit suicide I think why is it now that the rate of victims killing themselves? why is it when I was younger and people bullied others it wasn't on a level where the bullied wanted to kill themselves. I blame the society that we are creating for our children. A society where now we can use curse words on public tv, a society where fashion, violent music and materialism is outlining our children future. In a world where we are allow 10 year old to have a facebook page and think their mature enough to handle the cyber world. lots of these bulling occurred on the net, that says a lot.
We have given our children way tooo much freedom into this new technology era. It sad to say but WE MUST BUILD OUR CHILDREN STRONGER FOR A SOCIETY THAT HAS GROWN WEAK TOWARDS FAMILY ORIENTATION AND MORALS. WE THE PARENTS ARE THE PLATFORM TO STOPPING THESE SAD DEATHS.

Bullying has gone on since I can remember but today the kids are just plain viscious. They are taught not to do it and the consequences it can have on someone who can't handle the pressure but they continue til the one being bullied becomes another statistic. Our kids are growing up in a world of video games, internet, TV shows that aren't funny unless they have some kind of sexual innuendo,God being taken out of the schools and Holy Holidays, and you are right...Family and good morals are one of the best keys...not letting kids live in the world of the internet, video games and television. God, Church, family are all good for the soul.

yes @ Dorothy the other day I wa watching Chanel 11 and they actually was playing stewie and they were cursing and the whole time I'm thinking like wow this ain't even on cable Chanel. Kids think that if it's on tv that they can mimic it too. The Generation is going down the tubes if we don't really go back to the way our mothers/ grandparents and our era taught and disciplined us. thank you for taking time out and responding. THE WAY TO STOP THESE BULLYING IS TEACHING EACH OTHER AND CARING <3
