INTRODUCING JOHN CRUZ AND THE SSG MOVEMENT

REMEMBER THESE NAMES: JOHN CRUZ AND SSG. THIS IS A COMBINATION OF SUCCESS. BORN AND RAISED IN THE SOUTH BRONX, JOHN CRUZ WOULD BE THE OLDEST CHILD OUT OF SEVEN, FOUR BOYS AND THREE GIRLS. LIVING IN THE BRONX IF YOU WEREN'T BORN INTO A RICH FAMILY, THAN A HOUSEHOLD OF SEVEN IN THE HOOD MEANT WHEN YOU HAD IT, YOU HAD IT,AND WHEN YOU DIDN'T IT WAS BAD. LIFE WAS TOUGH FOR A WOMAN TRYING TO MAINTAIN A HOUSEHOLD OF SEVEN CHILDREN, BUT MILAGROs CARRERO PROVIDED EVERYTHING SHE COULD FOR HER CHILDREN. AS A KID GROWING UP IN THE SOUTH BRONX, WHEN ALL YOU ARE GIVING OR SEE IS POVERTY AROUND YOU, IT'S HARD TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO EVER BELIEVE OR WANT MORE THAN WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE. MILAGROS CARRERO ALSO KNOW AS MILLY WAS JOHN'S BACKBONE SHE WAS HIS MOTIVATION, HIS DRIVE, AND HIS LOVE. ALL HE WANTED WAS TO GIVE HIS FAMILY EVERYTHIN HE DIDN'T HAVE AND MORE. THE STRESS OF BEING THE OLDEST AND HELPING OUT IN HIS HOUSEHOLD LEAD HIM TO SLANGING AND HUSTLING, NOT BECAUSE OF HIS PREFERENCE BUT BECAUSE IT WAS A WAY OF LIFE IN THE HOOD. HUSTLING WAS A WAY TO EAT, A WAY TO BUY ALL THE FLY KICKS AND CLOTHES BUT ALSO A WAY OF HELPING YOUR FAMILY. JOHN CRUZ KNEW IN ORDER TO BUILD AN EMPIRE IT WOULD TAKE WORK, TIME AND MONEY.
SCHEMES, SCAMS AND GRAMS ALSO KNOW AS SSG WAS CREATED IN 2001 BY JOHN CRUZ. THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NAME CAME FROM WHAT HE SEEN AND DID FOR SURVIVAL IN THE "GHETTO". AS HE WRITES ON HIS SITE ON: HTTP://SSGLIFESTYLE.COM "EVERYONE IN THE BRONX WAS SCHEMING AND SCAMMING TO MAKE ENDS MEAT". HIS MISSION: TO BRIDGE THE CULTURE DIVIDED BETWEEN URBAN AND SUBURBAN CULTURE BECAUSE BOTH JUST WANT TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA.
THIS WAS A BITTER SWEET VICTORY FOR JOHN. MILAGROS CARRERO PASSED AWAY OF COMPLICATIONS FROM BREAST CANCER. EVEN AFTER DEATH SHE WOULD GUIDE JOHN TO HIS VICTORY. JOHN HAS DONE MAJOR PROJECTS FROM MUSIC VIDEOS TO PHOTOGRAPHY. UNDER THE SSG UMBRELLA IS CLOTHES,FILM PRODUCTION AND PHOTOGRAPHY.
AS JOHN CRUZ WOULD SAY "FAMILY IS ALWAYS FIRST"...

Sometimes people have to do what they have to in order to support their family. I lived in the Bronx myself and life was hard just having two children for my husband to support. I am glad John Cruz made a good life for himself and did his best. He never gave up and made a success of himself. If Milagros was you mother...I am so sorry you lost her to cancer. John Cruz was so right: " Family Is Always First."
